Did You Have A Baby And Think

What the f*ck just happened to me??

When you were preparing for your pregnancy & birth journey did you find tons of resources to help you understand what was happening to your body?  They are everywhere!

Maybe you had an amazing experience with your delivery.  And maybe you didn't.  Either way you had resources, classes, and providers helping you along the whole time.

But now the baby is here and you are thinking to yourself I have no idea what just happened to my body.  Your provider might see you in 2-3 weeks if you're lucky, but most often your follow up isn't for 6 weeks.

You might have a list of symptoms to watch out for and a recommendation of don't exercise or have penetrative intercourse, but you don't understand why those symptoms might be a problem and you aren't sure why you should wait the full six weeks to get back to everything you were doing before you had the baby.

Plus on top of all of that, society is telling you that you better bounce back ASAP.  And if you aren't feeling like yourself by 6 weeks postpartum that's a you problem.  But do you want to know the truth?  This is a toxic and isolating message because most  people aren't feeling like they're back to "normal" by 6 weeks postpartum.

We see clients every day who tell us they had no idea they would still be bleeding 4+ weeks after having the baby. They had no idea that their core would still feel so weak (and different!) at 6 weeks postpartum.

We've had clients jump right back into their pre-pregnancy workouts as soon as their provider cleared them (without examining anything except their cervix for their yearly pap smear) at 6 weeks and they don't understand why they're leaking urine so badly or why they feel like something is falling out of their vagina.

We have clients who feel like there is something wrong with them because they didn't immediately go home and have penetrative intercourse as soon as they were cleared.  Or even worse that they did and it hurt.  No one told them that it could be painful now!

The unfortunate reality of postpartum care is that we are not doing enough for new parents!  Education about pregnancy & the birthing process is so prevalent, but what happens afterwards?

The first 6 weeks after you have a baby offers such a huge opportunity to heal and reconnect with your body if you're given the right guidance.  That is why we've created Pace Yourself Postpartum!

This is not a season you have to walk alone!  You can have a doctor of physical therapy who specializes in pelvic health and a certified personal trainer who specializes in training clients after they have given birth walk along side you for the journey.

Are You Ready To Reconnect With Yourself, Heal Your Body, And Feel Up To Enjoying This Postpartum Season?

We Can Help You With That!

Hi! I'm Dr. Emily Pace and I have been a physical therapist specializing in pelvic floor dysfunction for over 10 years now. I realized really quickly that a lot of the issues my patients were facing had started during their pregnancy and after they had delivered their baby, but no one was there to support and help them. I met Alexis when she was on her second postpartum journey in 2016, this time she was trying to navigate life with a pelvic organ prolapse. She devoured every bit of content to help her heal her own body, but she also wanted to become the coach she needed after giving birth to her youngest. After spending years wishing there was better support available for our clients after they had a baby, we realized we were the ones to create that support. And that's how Pace Yourself Postpartum was born.

In This Program We Will Help You Reconnect With Your Postpartum Body

And Get Back To Feeling Like Yourself Again!

The 6 week Pace Yourself Postpartum Program will take the guess work out of healing after having a baby.

The early weeks after having a baby should be a slow and intentional reconnection with your body.  We break it down for you week by week! We start with a basic anatomy lesson about what is your core and your pelvic floor and how can you find these muscles.  This will be the foundation for the rest of the program.

We will help you understand why there are restrictions around your activities based on these changes and how you can navigate a body that may not feel like it was the body you had before your baby.

We will teach you how to move your body in a way that protects your pelvic floor and back so you can minimize pain while you are caring for your baby.  And we help you understand the resources that are available to you if you're having problems with any of these areas as you are healing.

Each week we talk you through 6 key areas:

  • Hormonal Changes

Each week we will start out teaching you about the hormonal changes that are happening with your body after delivery. This will change rapidly in the beginning and go slower as the weeks go on, but it's important to know where you are in your healing journey.

  • Body Changes

Your body has changed significantly with pregnancy and after delivery! Each week we will teach you to recognize what are normal signs of healing and what are symptoms that are causes for concern (and how to find help if you need it!).

  • Feeding Considerations

Feeding your baby is going to consume so much of your day and how you position yourself to do it is important for your healing body. We will help you navigate changes that occur weekly and know how to identify signs that you may need help.

  • Body Mechanics

Babies put us in the weirdest positions while we are caring for them. We will show you the best ways to support your healing body with a variety of positions to do all of the different activities you need to do in your day. These positions are reinforced in your workout program!

  • Wound Healing

We will help you better understand the different phases of wound healing that are happening in your body as you are recovering from delivery. Even if you did not have tearing, an episiotomy, or a c-section there is still a wound in your uterus that takes times to heal.

  • Work Out

Each week we will help you get back to your fitness journey by connecting with your body in a way that aligns with your healing. These workouts will work your brain and your body as you reconnect with your core and pelvic floor so you can safely get back to exercise.
